Perak Academy was established to galvanise and rekindle interest and activity in making Perak as a Centre of Excellence in Thought, Culture and Technology, in addition to other potential that it may have. The Academy is a company limited by guarantee. It has a proactive Board of Governors and is dedicated to achieving its objectives through a variety of different activities, working closely with all like-minded bodies including Government agencies.

Its principal methods of action include the following:

  • Organising and supporting activities and projects related to intellectual discourse, research and writing, fine arts and the performing arts
  • Helping to set up institutions of learning and libraries

To assist its on-going activities, the Board has established a series of Councils (think-tanks), which are listed in detail under “Structure” It also has a Secretariat based in the Greentown area of Ipoh and it works closely with allied organisations such as:

  • Perak Society of Performing Arts
  • Perak Heritage Society

The Academy was registered under the Companies Act on 19 November 2002, under registration number 599073D.
